As we continually conduct our event in a manner that is as earth-friendly as possible, we strive to meet our vision of hosting a Zero-Waste Event. We’ve partnered with Remix Organics as our Organics Waste Collection Partner and Nauset Disposal for all our Recycling needs. On our journey towards reaching this goal, the Cape Cod Marathon Weekend Event implements the following:
- Eliminate All Single-Use Plastic Water Bottles
- Use only 6oz World Centric Compostable Cups at all On-Course Water Stations
- Use only 12oz World Centric Compostable Cups at the Water Monster Refill Station in the Start/Finish area
- Use only 8oz World Centric Compostable Bowls, Spoons and Napkins for our post-race soups and clam chowdah
- Use only 12oz World Centric Compostable Cups at our Water Table and Gatorade Table in our Start/Finish area
- Operate supervised Compost/Recycle/Trash areas in the Start/Finish area
- Partner with ReMix Organics Company to handle all of our compostable materials
- Partner with Nauset Disposal to handle all of our recyclable materials
As we look to improve upon the already successful initiatives above, we will continue to explore additional eco-friendly initiatives.
